I grew up in a house full of cooks. My parents are both excellent cooks and their parents were excellent cooks. My siblings are excellent cooks. What happened to me? My goal is to be able to cook Sunday dinner for my family without the help of any family members. I actually learned quite a bit in my cooking class and feel like there may actually be a little chef inside of me.
Tight spaces.
I have always suffered to a degree from claustrophobia but after what happened this weekend, my phobia is at a whole new level. I worked late as usual and when I finally took a moment to breathe, I looked around and everyone in the office had left for the day. I decided it was time to wrap things up for the day. I grabbed my file folders and headed for the elevator. The elevator went down about two floors then jerked to a stop. I waited a few minutes then started frantically pressing the emergency button. I felt myself breaking into a sweat and my felt like I was beginning to hyperventilate. I had visions of a news story I had seen of a man spending the entire weekend in an elevator waiting for rescue. I tried to get control of myself and after a few minutes, a calming voice came over the speaker in the elevator letting me know that it should be moving shortly. I heard some banging and the elevator jerked a few times and finally it was on the move again. The whole ordeal from start to finish took less than thirty minutes but it was good incentive to start taking the stairs again.
Ug. The dentist.
Why am I so afraid of the dentist? I have been suffering from tooth pain for the past couple of years on and off. The pain will be severe for a few weeks and just when I'm about to give in and go to the dentist, the pain will subside and eventually go away. I break out in a cold sweat with just the thought of a giant needle going into my gums. When I was younger, I had a few pretty major dental procedures and I cannot get the pain associated with those procedures out of my head. I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed when I was in my late teens. I can clearly remember being quite loopy after the procedure and drooling all over the place from my completely numb mouth without even realizing it. I also quite clearly remember the days of pain that followed as my mouth healed. I also had a root canal a few years ago. That procedure is also something I would not like to live though again. That giant needed was supposed to ensure that I did not feel any of the pulling and tugging of my nerves and tooth. Yes, I definitely think I will deal with the pain and avoid the dentist as long as possible!

I bought Ziggy, a Yorkshire Terrier when he was barely ten weeks old. I brought him home and he immediately fell asleep in my slipper.
