In his 10-plus years with Flirt4Free, the incomparable Jakub Stefano has become more than just a cam guy. This striking, muscular Czech stands as one of the most recognized and respected male performers in our industry. His dedication, boundless charm, and unbridled sexiness has earned him many of camming’s most prestigious awards (read about Stefano as co-host of the 2019 Live Cam Awards here), as well as the adoration of a large and loyal fan base. As F4F’s brand ambassador, Stefano travels the world imparting webcam wisdom and instilling his high standard for quality in every model he meets. His commitment to cam perfection shows, not just in his chiseled physique or in the rave reviews he receives from his Flirt friends, but also in an obvious passion for camming as a whole. We sat down with the Flirt Hall of Famer to talk about what inspires him both on-cam and off. Please enjoy the interview below, transcribed in full.
Charles Farley: How did you first get into camming?
Jakub Stefano: Hello, thank you for having me on this interview. It all started when I was 19, looking for a summer job before entering university. Back in the day, we had no internet at home, so I searched for jobs from my friend's house. I found an advertisement saying "Make 20 CZK per minute" ($1 USD). This seemed to be too much money, but I decided to give it a chance. So I called and scheduled a meeting. That's how I started in the studio.
I was never trained or told about what my work on the site would entail. The first day was kind of stressful for me, not knowing anything about private shows, but I made almost $300 in 8 hours that first day. This was the amount my parents worked a week to earn, so I decided to continue and see where it took me.
CF: What has kept you going for close to 15 amazing years?
JS: I never thought camming would be my career or that I could do this job for years. I have always been competitive and I think that helped motivate me. It helped me get the financial freedom to invest in my other business and life plans. In time, I tried to improve in terms of income and becoming a brand in the industry. I am often asked how much longer I will work online as a model. I always say “As long as it makes sense for me.” I don't see a time frame for camming anymore. If you treat it right, you can do very well, even when you are 40+.
CF: What has camming taught you about yourself?
JS: It has taught me to be patient and never give up. There are days when it's very difficult. I have seen many good models quit over the years because they were not able to handle the slow times. I have also seen a lot of models overcome down times and enjoy great success. I always tell the guys in our studio, "A good model is not recognized when he's easily making tons of money, but when it's slow and he gets himself through it and picks himself back up.
CF: How has modeling changed you?
JS: I don't know if it changed me as a person. It probably helped me be more confident and I found a field where I feel I am successful. It definitely changed my life. I gained more freedom to travel and buy material things that I could only dream about as a kid. It also gave me a chance to help my family, which felt really good.
CF: You’ve earned so many awards as a cam model. Which are you most proud of and why?
JS: I appreciate every award I've received. It's always good to be recognized for your work. For sure the most emotional one was the 1st male Model of the Year award. I remember being very happy about the reward and receiving it in front of Flirt4Free executives. I am most proud of my overall success on the site, and being able to keep up with younger guys. It takes a huge amount of self-control and a good work ethic to get to this place.
CF: You’ve traveled all over the world as a Flirt4Free brand ambassador. What does representing F4F mean to you?
JS: It has been a great opportunity for me to share my experiences with other models all over the world. I always enjoy helping new models in the industry and representing our site.
CF: It was so good to have you at Summit X in the Maldives. What will you remember most about your Flirt Island experience?
JS: It was a once in a lifetime experience, so there's a lot to remember. It was a unique and breathtaking island, just for us. There were beautiful sunrises from private water villas, great cuisine and drinks all day long. Lots of fun times with friends and people from the industry. Small sharks swimming around you in the water. It was a time that I will always remember and feel good about. I’m definitely looking forward to another in 2019. I can’t wait to find out where Summit 2019 will be!
CF: How do new fans get your attention in chat? And how do you keep things fresh for your large and loyal following?
JS: Getting to know me is the same as in my real life. Be nice and respectful and talk to me. Either we click or not. Same goes for the people who have been in my life for a while. You care about them, try to make them happy and help/support them when they need you.
CF: What makes the ideal member?
JS: The ideal member is a nice person who treats you right, is loyal and not too demanding. Someone you like to see in your room every time. Even when you know he can't spend money.
CF: In your time with us, you’ve always excelled during our holiday contests. What’s your secret?
JS: It's the same secret that made me a successful model: a crazy work ethic and focus. When I decide to win, I do whatever it takes. If I need to be online 20 hours that day, I do it, and even if I don't win, I know I did my best.
CF: What do you get up to when not on cam? Any passion or hobbies?
JS: I try to sleep 6 hours a day … sometimes that's hard. The gym and sports play a big part in my life. Every day, I work out or play soccer or beach volleyball. I spend time working on my other projects and my free time is for family and friends.
CF: In your time on cam, we’re sure you’ve witnessed some strange and funny things. What are some of your most unforgettable on-cam experiences?
JS: (laughs) There have been so many funny moments. Turning into a pig when a fan said the magic words “horkus-porkus” … jumping on potatoes. Eating an entire container of ice cream in an hour private and falling off the chair while trying to be sexy, just to name a few.
CF: Finally, what advice would you give the coming generation of cam models?
JS: Nowadays, more than ever, you can make very good money on cam. There is a lot of competition, so try to improve yourself all the time if you are serious about it. Learn different languages and take care of your appearance. It's going to be hard work, lasting success never comes easy. But what you put in you get back.
